Ok, Blancplain started a trend when they put a sailcloth strap (also known as kevlar strap) on their Fifty Fathoms dive watch.
Like leather, sail cloth has the ability to make a watch look dressy or casual depending on the rest of your attire.
Unlike leather though, sailcloth nylon won’t go limp,smell or wilt away when submerged in water for a lengthy period of time. This material will more than hold upto your sport/ swim /dive excursions. Which means you can utilise your everyday wear watches and not have to worry about getting them wet or changing for sports or swims.
Sailcloths are a unique type of strap & given the popularity of this design many after market options offer a leather or rubber version with the sailcloth pattern printed or embossed on the surface.
